Loyalty in the Final Crisis

Published on Apr 1, 2013
While most Christians are eagerly looking forward to the return of Jesus at some undisclosed date in the near future, two lesser known dates in religious history are 1844 and 1888. During this time period God revived an amazing message that may well have ushered in the coming of Jesus, had it been received and practiced. Unfortunately, it was rejected for the most part. Yet today, God's spirit is stirring once again. History is fast fulfilling the predictions of Revelation 13's end-time scenario. The stage is being set for one more climactic battle between Truth and error. To whom will you render allegiance?

Portraits of Jesus 01-Our Divine-Human Intercessor
http://vimeo.com/14635221
Who is Jesus? Was He just a man? Some say He was God in human bodily form. If He is God incarnate, was His humanity authentically human? Or was it merely an illusion? In this first episode of the Portraits of Jesus series, Ps Adrian Webster examines the record of Scripture to determine what Jesus' own self-consciousness was in regard to the claim that He is divine. Also taken into consideration is the understanding of the disciples, the prophecies of the Old Testament as well as the general testimony of the New Testament writings. Furthermore, the Scriptural testimony in regard to the nature of Jesus humanity is also brought to bear on the subject. A beautiful harmony is revealed that brings confidence and assurance to a world in need of hope.
Portraits of Jesus - 02-Our Suffering Messiah
http://vimeo.com/14646728
Have you ever asked where God is in the midst of tragedy, pain, or loss? Sometimes it’s difficult to see how there could possibly be a loving God when one is confronted with the horrific scenes of human life that play themselves out on planet Earth every day. Does God really care? If so, where is He when you’re hurting? Is God in anyway affected by this world’s sin and brokenness. The answer to these questions is absolutely YES! In this episode in the Portraits of Jesus series, Ps Adrian Webster unpacks a few Biblical passages that will reveal key concepts from the last few hours of Christ’s life as He was dying on the cross. Indeed sin, suffering, death and brokenness have all affected God in a profound, personal, first-hand manner. This amazing love and grace provide the strength to carry on despite this life’s tragedies.
Portraits of Jesus - 03-Our Listening Confidant
http://vimeo.com/14656256
Have you ever wished for someone with a good listening ear - someone who you could trust with any feeling or information with absolute confidence that your secrets would not be broadcast abroad? We all need this kind of intimacy and freedom to be vulnerable. The good news is that you have a Father in heaven who wants to be your Confidant. Once you discover the joy and the empowerment that comes through a meaningful prayer experience, you’ll wonder how you ever lived without it. But how should one pray? What does meaningful prayer look like? Jesus’ disciples asked Him very similar questions. This episode in the Portraits of Jesus series explores the prayer life of Jesus Himself as a case study in meaningful and effective prayer.
Portraits of Jesus - 04-Our Great High Priest
http://vimeo.com/14659960
In the corporate world today, it is possible to have a 3-D scale model printed of just about any architectural or engineering design prior to actual construction or manufacturing. The 3-D scale model, made of layers of glue and powder, enables the client to visually understand what the end product will look like and how it will function. Wouldn’t it be great if God gave His followers something similar to help them understand the practical aspects of His plan of salvation? The good news is that precisely such a model was given in the Old Testament - the earthly sanctuary, ceremonial laws and a human priesthood. Embedded within these practical enactments and religious practices were beautiful illustrations that can still be used as aids to faith in a New Testament era. Indeed, Jesus is our great High Priest in the Heavenly Sanctuary today. What a privilege it is to follow Him there by faith.
Portraits of Jesus - 05-Our Victorious Messiah
http://vimeo.com/14800322
When one reads the four gospel accounts, which describe the last few hours of Jesus’ life as He hung upon the cross, there almost seems to be a contradiction. Yet upon closer examination a beautiful harmony will be found which illuminates the spiritual journey that Jesus undertook as humanity’s substitute. You’ll discover what humanity’s redemption cost heaven. While salvation is free to humanity, it was extremely expensive to heaven.

The Value of the Human Soul (Part 1): The Love of God
http://vimeo.com/13867083
Everyone needs to feel special. Each person is unique and individual - like no other person in the universe. Yet this idea doesn’t always translate into a practical experience for everyone. Many people go through life wondering if they are of any value. Some even choose the option of suicide to end their seemingly pointless and mundane experience of life. All around us are voices that try to convince us that we are special and of value to the God who created us. But how do we know that this is true for sure? Has God got anything to say on this subject from His word? In this presentation you’ll be excited to discover that whatever you experience in life, you are of infinite value to God!
The Value of the Human Soul (Part 2): The Cost of Redemption
http://vimeo.com/13869334
The value of the human soul can best be determined by an accurate understanding of how much God was willing to pay to ensure our redemption and eternal happiness. At the cross, where Jesus experienced rejection by His Father, betrayal by His own nation, abandonment by His disciples, inestimable physical suffering and ultimately death, we see the fullest revelation of God’s love for human beings. A love that was willing to rather die the cruel death of the cross than spend eternity without you is evidence that you are of supreme value to the God who created you!
Unloading the Past (Part 1): The Assurance of Forgiveness
http://vimeo.com/13872477
So many people are prevented from enjoying life to the fullest because they are carrying baggage from the past with them - whether it’s anger, resentment, an unforgiving spirit, hurt or hatred. Unresolved emotional or spiritual matters become baggage that weighs a person down as they travel the journey of life. The strange thing is that baggage attracts baggage. In other words, if one doesn’t make a point of shedding one’s accumulated emotional and spiritual baggage, the likelihood of picking up even more baggage is dramatically increased. The good news is that God’s word contains numerous promises that will enable one to shed one’s accumulated baggage. There is indeed a place of sweet release; a place where the burden of the past is rolled away.
Unloading the Past (Part 2): An Example of Confession
http://vimeo.com/13874166
It’s one thing to know and understand that freedom from guilt and the baggage of the past comes through confession. It is an entirely different thing, though, to put the theory into practice in such a way that the freedom that comes through confession is a practical, daily reality. What does confession look like in practice? Are there any confession formulas or rules that need to be observed? Fortunately, the God who invites us to confess our sins to Him has also given us the practical model from which we can learn exactly how to go about the liberating experience of confession.
Onward & Upward (Part 1): Human Weakness & Divine Aid
http://vimeo.com/13875342
It may be that on a deep inner level you recognize the great need you have for moral correction. It may be that you have found yourself powerless to overcome some sort of addiction which is threatening your life and your happiness. Yet, you’ve probably also figured out that a knowledge of your great need for change does not necessary translate into power for change. Knowing and doing are two different things. But there is hope! God’s word is packed full of promises in which God pledges Himself to accomplish in your life what it is impossible for you to accomplish in your own strength. The good news is that although you may be weak, God has offered you the power of His omnipotence to overcome and rise above your inherited and cultivated moral imperfections.
Onward & Upward (Part 2): The Source of Power
http://vimeo.com/13877784
Romans 8 is one of the most encouraging and most powerful passages of Scripture for the person who recognizes their weakness and is seeking life changing power. All those who have received Jesus as their personal Savior are granted the gift of the Holy Spirit. Through this gift the moral weaknesses that were formerly insurmountable, can and will be overcome. True change of life is more than mere behavior modification; it is internal transformation and regeneration that overflows into new actions and a new lifestyle. This thorough internal change is only possible by the working and the power of the Holy Spirit.
Comfort in Brokenness (Part 1): The Heavenly Healer
http://vimeo.com/13879036
While relationships were intended to bring great joy, they can also inflict great pain and deep wounds when they go wrong. Whether it’s betrayal, loss of confidence, or death itself, every single human being will, at some point, know the bitter experience of relational brokenness. In an effort to minimize the pain, some people will build walls around themselves by preventing any deep and committed relational experiences with other people. Yet, in so doing, much of life’s meaning and purpose is lost as well. The good news is that there is one relationship that can truly deliver lasting joy and meaning. God has promised a forever friendship that will not only bring contentment and peace, but will also provide healing from past hurts and disappointments that have resulted from broken earthly relationships.
Comfort in Brokenness (Part 2): The Promise of God's Presence
http://vimeo.com/13890548
Psalm 23 is probably one of the most well known passages in all of the Bible. It illustrates the type of relationship that God longs to have with each of us by using the metaphor of a shepherd that cares for his sheep. It matters not whether the going is easy or whether the valley of the shadow of death looms overhead. The Good Shepherd is always present and always has a plan to keep us close to Him. The promise of God is that He will provide for our every need in every circumstance.
Confidence in Financial Uncertainty (Part 1): Promises & Warnings
http://vimeo.com/13894489
Recent times have brought a sober reminder that trusting in financial riches is sure to bring only disappointment. The global financial crisis of 2008 / 2009 ended the previous years of speculative financial boom and ushered in a period of financial gloom which saw the collapse of the stock market, property market and even long-standing, reputable financial institutions and banks. Many people lost everything they had saved and had hoped to retire on someday. Is there any hope or any help that the Scriptures can offer to the person who has no financial security? Is God able and willing to get involved in one’s personal financial situation? When every human financial system has failed, is God still able to provide for the needs of His children? The resounding and unequivocal answer in Scripture is YES! God has a thousand ways to provide for the needs of His children of which they know nothing!
Confidence in Financial Uncertainty (Part 2): Learning to Trust
http://vimeo.com/13897004
There is great comfort and assurance in the realization that our Heavenly Father is the Owner of everything. He is not strapped for resources or means. As He deems best and in His time He will ensure that those who make Him their Trust and their Provider will have every single one of their needs amply supplied by His grace and generosity. If Jesus was willing to offer up His life as a sacrifice to obtain our forgiveness and eternal life, how much more will He not also supply our daily, physical needs?

What does it mean to exercise faith in Jesus? How can one be sure that one's salvation is indeed secure? What about God's end time judgment? Some people speak about a "pre-advent judgment" or an "investigative judgment". What is that all about? This message will provide Biblical clarity in regard to these questions. The gospel of Jesus Christ is indeed good news!!
Salvation's End Game
Romans 5:1-11
https://youtu.be/PGIGXVMEqZs
Published on Sep 2, 2012
What does God get out of the plan of Salvation? We often focus on the benefits that human beings get out of God's offer of salvation. Why would Jesus go to all the effort, the pain, the suffering and finally experience death in His effort to redeem us from sin? Asked another way, what is salvation's end game? When one discovers the answers to these questions it clarifies a lot in terms of what salvation is and why it is so valuable!

"Salvation" - What is it? Christians speak about it all the time. It's one of the chief themes throughout the Bible. But can I really be sure of it? How do I obtain it? Where does it start and where does it end? What part does God play and what part do I play? This presentation provides an overview of the salvation concept in a clear and concise manner straight out of the Bible.
A Heart of Faithfulness
Ezekiel 20
https://youtu.be/QWLP1cDWQN8
Published on Nov 5, 2012
Ezekiel 20 starts off rather strangely with God refusing to be enquired of by the leaders of His people. Why would God give the silent treatment to those who have come to inquire of Him? Throughout this chapter, God rehearses the history of His gracious dealings with a stubborn people. He contrasts His character of faithfulness with the unfaithfulness of His professed people. Furthermore, the prophet connects three concepts: Faithfulness to God, obedience to His commandments and the Sabbath day. How are these related? What message can a 21st century generation take from the people of Ezekiel's time?
Render to Caesar What is Caesar's...

In a grand attempt to entrap Jesus with the Roman authorities, the Pharisees sent their students with a question regarding whether the Jews should return tax to Caesar or not. In a display of wisdom and insight Jesus not only answered their question, but also looked deep into their soul with an appeal to recognise the claim of ownership that the Creator has upon every human being.
Loving the Church
Matthew 10:5-42
https://youtu.be/amhN6x4pqqs
Published on Jan 15, 2013
What do you do when the church does not measure up to your expectations? Matthew 10 contains an enlightening discourse by Jesus given to His 12 disciples who He was sending to minister to His people. Strangely enough, the honest reality check that Jesus offers is that the church is not always going to be the perfect place it should ideally be. Yet it still remains the object of God's love and effort. It's easy to 'jump ship' when disillusionment sets in. Yet the example of Jesus shows us a still better way...
Tenacious Faith
Matthew 15:21-28
https://youtu.be/T99tg6sI1bU
Published on Jan 29, 2013
Perhaps one of the strangest stories recorded in the gospels is the interaction between Jesus and the syro-phoenecian woman who approaches Him for help with her demon possessed daughter. Jesus first ignores her, then tries to turn her away, finally capping everything off with what could easily have been perceived as an insult. Why would Jesus do this? Why doesn't Jesus immediately answer her simple, straight-forward request for her daughter's healing? After all, wasn't bringing freedom and healing to the demon possessed the core business of the gospel?

What message can a 21st century generation take from the people of Ezekiel's time?
Render to Caesar What is Caesar's...

In a grand attempt to entrap Jesus with the Roman authorities, the Pharisees sent their students with a question regarding whether the Jews should return tax to Caesar or not. In a display of wisdom and insight Jesus not only answered their question, but also looked deep into their soul with an appeal to recognise the claim of ownership that the Creator has upon every human being.
Loving the Church

What do you do when the church does not measure up to your expectations? Matthew 10 contains an enlightening discourse by Jesus given to His 12 disciples who He was sending to minister to His people. Strangely enough, the honest reality check that Jesus offers is that the church is not always going to be the perfect place it should ideally be. Yet it still remains the object of God's love and effort. It's easy to 'jump ship' when disillusionment sets in. Yet the example of Jesus shows us a still better way...
Tenacious Faith

Perhaps one of the strangest stories recorded in the gospels is the interaction between Jesus and the syro-phoenecian woman who approaches Him for help with her demon possessed daughter. Jesus first ignores her, then tries to turn her away, finally capping everything off with what could easily have been perceived as an insult. Why would Jesus do this? Why doesn't Jesus immediately answer her simple, straight-forward request for her daughter's healing? After all, wasn't bringing freedom and healing to the demon possessed the core business of the gospel?

Have you ever felt repulsed by the practice of a judgmental religiosity? Jesus had some strong words for those who misrepresented God's character by practicing this type of religion. Jesus also had words of hope to inspire a genuine heart-felt response to the grace of God. Based on Matthew 6:1-4, this message will bring a fresh perspective to what true spirituality is.

What is worship? We use this word in various ways. We take fore granted that we understand what it means. Perhaps on a certain level we do. But what is it at its core when stripped of all its forms and externals? A simple encounter between a leper and Jesus, as recorded in Matthew 8:1-4, gives some powerful insights into the concept of worship!

Isn't true religion supposed to offer genuine power for change? The good news is that when a person becomes relationally connected with Jesus, there is a genuine power that enables and transforms the life. Nowhere is this more clearly seen than in Luke 8 where Jesus transforms a demon possessed man into a missionary ambassador for His kingdom!

How do we treat the prophetic messages that God has given to us? When Jesus stood before the Jewish leaders on the night of His crucifixion, He answered them not a word. When He was arraigned before Herod, Jesus refused to answer Herod's questions. Yet, when he appeared before Pilate, He dialogued openly about His identity and mission. Why did Jesus relate so differently to these various parties? What does this difference reveal regarding the importance of heeding the prophetic revelations that God has seen fit to give to the world?

What drives our broken, sinful behaviours? We may claim to know and love the true God. But is He on the throne of our hearts? If not, if some other god rules us on a functional level, we will find ourselves powerless to break our sinful cycles of brokenness - no matter how much we pray about that particular behaviour. It's time to Overthrow the Tyrants!

Have you ever been angry? Of course, who hasn't been, right?! How do you express your anger? What drives your anger? Is all anger wrong? The Bible has a lot to say about anger. In fact, upon closer examination you may discover that anger is a revelation of who rules your heart. It is a revelation of our moral compass. Getting to the bottom of what angers us enables an intelligent repentance toward God. So what does your anger reveal about your heart orientation?

Judgmental attitudes and actions never lead to heartfelt change and transformation in those who are on the receiving end. Grace, on the other hand, is a potent life transformer. Are you an agent of judgment or of grace? What impact do you have on those who have fallen? In dealing with others, do you tend to be someone who comes alongside or down-on-top-of those who are in the wrong?
